when i click on a button i'd like to see the next window at a pre-determined size and on a certain position on my screen.

There is an excellent extention available from this site called advanced open window. This will allow you to simply acheive what you want to do. You can always script it by hand as an alternative, search for popup window parameters on google for loads of examples.
