How is this for a bug?

Working on a site with check in/check out enabled, if you double-click a style on the CSS panel it will warn you that the .css file is read-only, and ask you whether or not you want to view it, check it out or cancel.

Unfortunately even if you select "view" it still checks it out. Whoops!

The real issue here is that the check out process checks a file out when it says it is only going to open it for viewing - that is a definite bug (i.e. doesn't do what it says it will).

Cheers

Weird- haven't seen that yet. Are you using a Mac or Windows. and I assume DWMX2004 (can't really edit CSS files that way in MX)?

Hi Scott,

That is using DSMW2004 under Windows 2000. It has been 100% reproducible for me and a colleague...

Thanks. I only have XP here, but also have 'Open CSS Files when Modified...' unchecked (Preferences > CSS Styles). When I uncheck that, I do get this to occur. Basically, yes- when you edit a style this way, it does need to check the CSS file out in order to write those changes (so IMHO the warning is what seems inaccurate- it should tell you that the file is locked, and you need to check it out in order to make the changes).

Regardless, good eye! I'll pass this one along for consideration...
