Getting this error when I try to view :localhost/phpmyadmin/index.php

Welcome to phpMyAdmin 2.5.4

phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in config.inc.php and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.

Error

MySQL said:

#1045 - Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: YES)

Any Ideas. I am new to PHP / MySQL!!
Many thanks,
Phil.

Hi, did you enter the appropriate details into the config.inc.php file?
If you are running the webserver / mysql server on another networked machine check that your have network access to that machine. I came across probs like that on my first install.

Thanks for the reply. I have everything set up on my local machine (no network). I want to be able to test dynamic content locally as part of a project. I set the file up as reccomended in an Internet magazine (i have been following their instruction).
Any thoughts,
Cheers,
Phil.
