Your post is pretty much a "how do I use DMX" post. Have you checked out this book. I don't have it but it seems highly rated:

Use Imageready to create slices. It also creates the table and spacers needed to display the image correctly.
Create a table in DWMX to hold the image.
Open the ImageReady HTML page in DWMX...switch to code view and copy the block of code starting with the <Table tag and ending with the </Table> tag.
Switch DWMX to the web page your working on and place the cursor in the table you want the sliced image to appear in.
Switch to code view and look for the blinking cursor. It will probably be within a <TD> </TD> pair.
This is where you want to paste the code you copied from the ImageReady HTML page.
Hope this helps.

Slices can be tricky at any time. If you want foolproof slicing and exporting for DMX, Try Fireworks, it blows the doors off anything else, and integrates perfectly with DMX. It also builds dropdown menus for you. Visit the following to view drop downs and slicing I created all in fireworks. www.fernygrove.com/italy
