Where'd my site definitions go?

This has happened before in DW 4.0... and now in MX. I launch DW and suddenly... all my site definitions are gone. They take a long time to recreate. There were there for weeks... and now... GONE. All of them. Tried SITE: EDIT SITES and nothing.
Any assistance greatly appreciated.
