I think I'll choose to pass on this.
I have found my self visiting udzone/dmxzone less and less since it went COMMERCIAL.
I have memories of the days when their was nothing but praise for the quality of extensions such as the original ASPupload, and for no costs.
When Pure ASP Upload was released for $49, I remeber thinking quite a jump from the free previous version, but hey, it sure is good extension and after the work and support that udzone had put into the previous extensions, well I thought this was acceptable.
At the time I thought their was no problem with charging for your "Top" extension and provide the same support and range of free extensions.
This was not to be, since this release nearly every, if not every extension that George and Co. have release have been paired with a price tag. Whilst the support on the forums seems to be getting worse.
In my opinion George & Co. have got a snif of the green stuff and have lost all understanding of what a "helpful community" is all about.
AND I for one was pretty hacked off at the hassels caused by the 2.09 > 2.13 updates, and from what I see this was mostly because they were missing out on some profits caused by people using their extensions without paying (downloading them from warez FTP's). Man these peoples would probably never pay for the extensions anyways, so you are not losing any money really. I mean, i'm never going to pay for all the other extension that DMXzone has, although I would love to have one or two (Esp Adv Open Window 3).
If you manage to make any money from this premium content scam then I'll be greatly suprised based on that once you pay your contribuators for their work, will there be anyything left over, even if there is, is it really worth it when you look at the "commercial gain only labeling" you are giving yourselves?
I for once have moved DMXzone from my favourites main section into a far off subfolder (Favourites - ASP Developement - DMX - Commercial Gain Only Sites)
So if you decide to undo your current doings and go back to the way this community once was, then please email me as I may miss out due to the fact that I'm hardly going to be on this site much anymore.

I hope we are not going to see censorship of any critisism, sure if it's offensive the post has to be removed, but if it's just an opinion that happens to be contrary to your own I don't see that as grounds for censorship.
On the subject of critisism, I added some content to the Tutorials section back at the beginning of February, it is still awaiting aproval. I know that this is handled by volunteers, but three months is quite a long time.
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to pay for extension that obviously took a great deal of time and effort to develop. However I think that some are rather expensive when you consider that you can buy a copy of Dreamweaver MX for $399.00 and you bear in mind all it's capabilities and the time and effort that must have gone into it's development, compared to an extension which assists with a very focused and specific development function.
With regard to pay to view content, my concern with this is that having paid, what happens when you discover that the article wasn't the 'holy grail' that answers your development issue after all. I also think that there is an awful lot of very good free content out there and a great number of people that are ready, willing and able to share their knowledge purely for the satisfaction of doing so. I hope it's a while yet before we see the internet move toward a satalite television, pay to view model. Incidentally, I don't have satelite television, why on earth would I want to pay to see more adverts. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
