I'm connected to an access db returning several columns. On my homepage I want to limit the number of characters to 20 from a certain column. Is there a server behaviour which will do this for asp.net? Or alternatively a neat bit of code?

The content is used in its entirety on a separate page - the 'cropped' versions I want are pushers to those areas.

Use the cut string function of the language you are using to display the output of the field.
