Hi, I am creating an online advertising site using DWMX and Access. I knew from the start that I would want the final site to be in MSSql due to Access limitations but, like a previous reader, know nothing about MSSql.

In Access there is an Upsize Wizzard that is suppose to convert your Access database to MSSql. Has anyone tried it? I have MS2000 Professional, IIS5, and the free trial 90 day version of SQL Server 7 on my machine.

Will I have to recode all my DWMX pages to accept the new database recordsets or does it easily switch from Access recordsets to MSSql recordsets if you name them the same???

Would be nice to find a DWMX tutorial for converting from one platform to the other. Thanks. Leesa

I think you'll be fine, if you modify the current connection (the access connection file). Just make sure that obviously all the tables and databases have the same names and i think it should be fine.

I never could get the upsize tool to work, I had to use SQL DTS (Data Transformation Services) and I remember writing about some of my upsize experiences on this website.

Sorry if repeat - first try took off on me...

Thanks for the info. Having problems with the upsizing too. Will try to find your threads on the subject. They must have archives on this forum. Thanks again! Leeas

you can use the DTS wizard, i wrote about it here:
www.dmxzone.com/go?4131

You want to check all your auto-nr fields and memo fields and other "odd" datatypes you might be using before you let the wizard drag in the database.

It took me a day to completely upsize my, at the time, 60+ table database.
