I'm trying to create a shopping cart system for a computer store.

I jumped into this project without knowing a lot of things.

1) How should my tables and fields look like?
2) Should there be some fields in my PRODUCTS table for storing values for Shipping such as size (WxHxL) & weight?
3) Is there a way to dynamically figure out how much shipping charges will be for a transaction?
4-a) Once a customer has entered in his credit card information, how do I go about verifying the credit card?
4-b) Is there any way to go around paying a monthly fee for a solution such as e-Select Plus from Moneris (www.moneris.com/eselectplus/index.html)?

5) I'm using Session variables for my shopping cart and customer login info (name & pw). Is that okay?


If someone has experience in building shopping carts, any suggestions/reccomendations/help is appreciated!
