<font face='Arial'>Hi all,
This is my first time posting, so please be kind if this problem has already been dealt with. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>
I'm having a problem connecting to a database that resides on an external server. I'm trying to connect through dreamweaver mx, but I'm having no luck what so ever.
I'm connecting to the server via FTP (via modem)... The server is located external. The database has already been establish, it just getting DW MX to talk to the server.
I'm having a problem discussed in the following article...
Unidentified error PHP/MySQL
www.macromedia.com/support/dreamweaver/ts/documents/unidentified_error_mysql.htm
I've followed the steps in the second solution, however the problem still exists.
Does anyone have an suggestions or a solution to this problem?
thanks in advance for any help that comes my way,
ignatz

hi,
i had the same error on my dwmx but my problem was that i was using win 95 and dw doesn't support it... also just checking that you have the correct host name for your mysql server i.e usually if it's run on the servers machine it should be "localhost" sometime the server uses another machine so it could be mysql.mydomain.com also you need the mysql username and password supplied by your web host (this is different to your ftp username and password) and lastly the name of the mysql database. If you have all of the above then the last thing i can think of is make sure that you have correctly set your ftp details to ensure the script is being uploaded to the root of your folder.
failing that sorry i dont know <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>
good luck !!
