Okay... You know how the Cult of the Dead Cow (CdC) created a web browser that can get past all filtering and limitations as a way to allow people access to information in countries like China where it's monitored with close scruitiny...

Well, I've heard that now the China guys have found a way to combat this and they're implementing it as we speak.

So... This idea should work, but I'm not a very good programmer...

A server application that loads the file from the blocked site to the server it's based on and then the client can view the file from the server the file is on so it isn't blocked. So the server loads it and goes through the server's ISP, not the client's... Kinda like an anonymous browser, the google translator, and a few others...

Anyone willing to help me implement the idea?

Oh, BTW, the free web translators do make nice cheap proxy servers in a pinch.

Did you hear that two people in China were executed this week for speaking out on a forbidden message board?

Yeah well kinda...

But it's like this...

Not only is it for all those guys who their government disallow access to, but also for us students, you'd be surprised at the number of suitable sites blocked, sure fair enough porn is blocked, but a lot of sites with information about say far right and left wing groups is blocked and other sites, like miniclip.com and cheatheaven.co.uk (dont ask)

Can anyone give me some proxy server code?

There are thousands of existing free anonymous public proxy servers out there... Just do a Google search on public proxy servers. If you want to make life very simple for yourself, you can just go directly to a site like the-cloak.com.

If you just want to be able to surf porn from your college dorm room, this should be fine. If you're talking about people in countries like China where there's a national government effort to block internet access, the problem will be getting a proxy list to them to begin with (they blocked Google, for example).
