posting this here in case some people have missed this.

to increase the speed of Dreamweaver MX, disable realtime virus scanning of the \Configuration folder.

Since the Configuration folder contains HTML files which can harbour virii like NIMDA and so forth, virus scanners will scan such pages as they are run - thus, as DW uses each page, it gets scanned too, resulting in chuggish behaviour from DWMX.

i spotted this tip somewhere after finding MX unbearably slow to even use, and b00mshanka! does she fly now.

True, but what about all your webfiles getting the Nimbda virus now? <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

My PC is firewalled and I run weekly checks on the entire system to ensure it is 100% sterile.

I have never had any problems with any virii during or after development. Provided your PC is secure for any data going in or out, you should never encounter any nasties so I don't see the problem.

Hi,

Can you give a detail of how to disable it? I went to the Configuration folder, but I don't know which files and how to disable.
