I currently use UD at work. I am developing a site to display all of our products. I am using asp and Access to develop the site and I am having to stumble through everything. You see, I have never had any training whatsoever in database design, web, or networking. All I have had is 2 introductory courses of computer programming in C++ in college. I dont know how to monitor the logs or anything like that. I feel that I am doing a good job of laying the site out, but I could be doing more. I love doing this stuff ... databases are the coolest things on earth! And the little networking stuff that I have picked up on aren't far behind.
What I need to know is what kind of classes have you guys taken that covers this knowledge? I really want to stop stumbling through everything. I haven't found anything yet that I couldn't figure out, but it just takes sooooooo much time to figure out these answers.
Pleeeeeeeeeez help!
Thank you very much in advance!
Matt

To tell you the truth I just did basic web design in FRONTPAGE when at college. I was training to become an accountant. Gave up on that idea half way through college and on the side picked up a few books, bought a new computer and started learning.
The best way you are going to learn is by making mistakes. Jump in head first and next time you will land on your feet. Pick up some UD books and database books, ASP 3.0 from www.wrox.com is good.
Any using this forum is always a good source for a helping hand. What goes around comes around here. We all get to ask about something we dont know and share what we do.
Personally, I am not one for learning through a class but getting into doing it is where I learn. Have a look at the books section on this site and pick up one or two that might suit. There are reviews, etc. on them. Make sure you get work to pay for them. If you need a hand with anything, just shout - some one here will hear you.
Regards and best of luck

Best way to learn about the web is from web. Most of the things I learned are from www.4guysfromrolla.com. When you have questions, this forum is a good place. For complete solutions take a look at www.planet-source-code.com or www.aspin.com.
