I've searched the forums and found nothing on this subject.

I'm using Tim's Upload PHP script to upload images, and i have realised (after much headache) that the target directory needs to be CHMOD 777 (world writeable). Is there a way to avoid this, using CHMOD 776 or otherwise?

Maybe using .htaccess?
