does anybody know if it's possible to get IIS or PWS working on XP Home?
if so how?
i have (had) it on xp pro but it has really gone wrong(the pc) so i need to get a sever working on my other pc which has XP Home on it.

XP is not only more stable than 98, but it also is a lot more powerful than 98 ever was. Although i personally subscribe to the anti-microsoft front, i don't think it's fair to trash XP simply because it's new. Windows 98 was dated shortly after they released it, and it has proven to be a source of many headaches and problems for developers accross all languages and application.

Nuff said. Use linux.

I would go to Windows 2000 mate like leed said. Most likely your webserver will be on. Usually better to be using the same resources as your webserver will be.
