Hi,
In UD connections to a DB are made in a seperate folder called "Connections". My problem is that when building the site locally i use a DSN connection and run it through PWS which is fine but when i want to upload it to my server, which is a real pain in allocating a DSN name, i opt for a connection string instead using the "MapPath".

When i modify the connections, to point to my connection string, UD doesn't seem to update the "string" only the "connection" so i have to do this manually to every page that runs a recordset.
Surely there is something i'm doing wrong here (or not).
I tried the "change Links Sitewide" option which just laughed at me and told me there was no links. great.

Come on guys, feed my brain with some simple stuff.
TIA

Hi DavieT,

This sounds interesting and could be considered a bug maybe? It sounds to me as though you are doing it right if in fact "right exists".

I don't know if these will work but it's worth a go.

1. Try removing connection scripts from the site dropdown then make the connection again.

2. After you have changed your remote and application server settings to connect to your remote space.

Delete your connection altogether from your site then put the site.

Then create your connection from scratch making sure it has the same name as the original.

It's winging it a bit but who knows. Let me know if this works.

I think i may have made this sound abit more than it was, but all i said was true.

but i managed to figure it out a much easier way. I just used a connection string with a map path so now i can use it locally and remotely.

Thanks for your answer though. All feedback is good.
