<font face='Verdana'>In the folders of some of my sites are subdirectories called "_vti_cnf". Does anyone know how they get there, what their purpose is and why i need them (or not)? They seem to mirror the contents of their master-directories.

Thanks,

They are FrontPage server extensions which allow sites to be published/synchronised with FrontPage. You can safely delete them if you have no intention of using FrontPage.
