hello, i have a website account at cfm-resources.com. i have created a website and i have tried locally, it works fine. Now i would like to upload it to the server with a connection to a database. but when i try to create a database connection to the remote server, it does not work. there is an ftp error. Here are my account information :
DSN Name: youngblood
DSN File Mapped To: D:\inetpub\wwwroot\members\members\y\youngblood\data\logon.mdb
is there a tutorial explaining how to set up a connection so that my website will work on live ?
i have tried to ask them for support information, but unfortunately i have got no answer.
I am really desperate and frustated, Can somebody help me ? I am using ultradev 4.

a FTP error ?
sounds like you set the settings wrong, did you set the remote settings properly in your site definition application server tab ?
You need to set the:
Host: cfm-resources.com ?
Host directory: members\y\youngblood ?
Login: Youngblood ?
Password: your password !
If all those are correct then your ISP is having problems with their FTP server.
For more info please look here:
www.macromedia.com/support/ultradev/database/connecting_to_isp/
and here:
www.macromedia.com/support/ultradev/database.html
this is main index:
www.macromedia.com/support/ultradev/technotes.html
but strange enough searching the support on MM.com finds far more technotes then what they claim is everything...hidden treasure

You caught me just as i was preparing to shut down my system and get some shuteye.
HTTP 403 means you do not have permission, contact your isp and tell them the location where you got the 403 error. It really is on their end.
It could also be that permissions are set so that users are not authorised to browse a folder through a browser, the browser needs to hit a page, if the 403 is the result of requesting a .asp adress then it IS a problem, they need to set permission for you to view there. I hope your ISP is still awake !
Good luck

hello again,
its seems that i am having problem uploading the files to the server. it starts well and succeed to upload some of the file and then it stops with the message error : ftp error occured.
well, i succeeded anyway to upload the database and the connection settings to the server as well as my login file.
So when i try to login on my website on the login page, here is the message that appears on the browser :Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e4d'
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Too many client tasks.
/y/youngblood/login.asp, line 14
Do you have any ideas ?

You may have noticed by now that my first stop is always Macromedia.com, judging from the error message i thought it was the Dbase complaining that too many requests were coming in, but Macromedia tells a different story.
1 hit for this error:
www.macromedia.com/support/ultradev/ts/documents/error_80040e4d.htm
There are MANY reasons for this error according to Micro$oft:
support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q306518
I'd tend to stick with the MM answer, their answer is related to UDev giving this problem, at M$ it's a broader band of things that can give you this error.
The ftp errors sound like a overloading FTP server that can't handle the traffic and aborts uploading of files and/or disconnects you, my old ISP told me "Just hang in there, keep trying it'll work" And indeed it did, after hours and hours of trying I gave up and a day later it worked.
