I'm new enough to Ultradev and have been working through some tutorials but keep encountering difficulties with the live data view and viewing results in a browser. Sometimes both displays work and on the next attempt they return error messages. Before I give more specific details, does this problem sound familiar to anyone? I'm running ultradev 4 on Win 2000 and have encountered the same problem on numerous machines with the same setup.

1. Make sure your Application Server settings is setup to use either ASP, Java, Cold Fusion.

2. Make sure that you select your view mode as "Application Server" view when viewing in "View Site File" mode.

3. After "Application Server" view mode is selected you should see a mirror image of your site files of your "local folder" on the "remote site" side.

3. When attempting to preview a page with your browser, do not select the page and right-click on the file on your "Local Folder" side, but select and preview the same file on your "Remote Site" view and then preview.

As far as Live Data view, it will not work correctly if the "Distributed Transaction Service" is not running. You'll find this in "Control Panel", "Administrative Tools","Component Services" and look for "DTS (Distributed Transaction Services) and make sure it is started, if it is stopped, then right-click go into properties and start it.

If you get an error upon starting it, you will need to re-synchronize your system usernames and passwords in three places within "Administrative Tools", IIS5.0, Computer Management and Component Services.

By resynchronizing I mean, your user names and passwords must match for these 3 places. For example "IWAM_UserName" and it's password must be the same on all three locations.

Hope this helps.
