I am creating a large photo album with about 9,000 pictures. I have it broken up but some may have about 1,000 pictures in a section.

What I would like is thumbnails that can be scrolled across the top. There would be a go next and go previous buttons. Clicking would advance the images or take the user back 3 images.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this?
My thinking is two database calls one for the thumbs and one for the large pictures.

Does anyone know of good examples of web photo albums or advice as I head down this path?
