I would like to start to learn about building dynamic sites and ive read quite a bit on the net. I have access to ultradev at work so i can use this to help slightly. everywhere i go there is loads of info on running asp + access with ultradev 4 and using pws to run and test the scripts on your machine, so i could learn that.
But what about using coldfusion + php.
Can i use ultradev 4 to write coldfusion scripts to connect to access? Ive read that you can download a free version of coldfusion express server so i could write and test cfml scripts and run them on pws. But would i need a copy of coldfusion studio or could i use ultradev 4???
ultradev 4 doesnt support php as standard, so can i download extension/ addons that add php functions to UD4 so i can create and test scripts?? Ive read of an add on for ultradev by arkat???
And finally ( sorry about this ) everyone seems to be using php / mysql combination. SO how easy is it to install mysql?? Im not really a dos type techie person (im running win98 just fine at the mo)
And once ive got mysql installed i should be able to hand code/ use ultradev4 to write php scripts to access mysql and provide dynamic content to a web page???? I have heard about phpdev, phptriad and merlin, which sounds like it could be the system to use, is that right?? Because im not too sure at the moment about using this. BUt it does sound like it would be simple to setup and run.
phew!!!
I know its loads to ask, but its all the questions i have after reading bits of info throughout the web. And i dont want to muck up my system as im not hugely technically minded. ANY help would be very welcome.
