setting CHMOD 777 thru UD interface ?
08 Jan 2002 23:43:24 TC McFall posted:
hrmmmm...i am working on a Flash/PHP guestbook as detailed at:
www.flashkit.com/tutorials/Dynamic_Content/Creating-Jeffrey_-705/index.shtml
and the instructions state that once I have it published I should go to one of the pertinent files and...
"3) Change the permissions of the 'GuestBook.txt' file to 777. You can do this by using Telnet or your FTP program. With WS_ftp you can right click on the file once uploaded and select 'chmod' - Just check all the boxes off."
well....that's all well and good. IN fact, I have WS_ftp and I understand the instructions just fine....but how do I achieve this through UD4? Perhaps this is simple, heck maybe you cant even do it...but I can't figure it out one way or the other!
any takers?

ok....obviously all i am getting in reply to this post is a lot of blank stares...
let me re-word it, if I may:
I am unfamiliar with how to set or modify permissions (read, write, execute, et.al.) on a remote file through the UD4 interface.
Can anyone help me out here? I'll buy you a pony!

As I know, you can't change permissions through UD. It must be done with some FTP program. Site manager/FTP that comes with UD sucks big time.

hrm...
i was afraid that this was true. I must admit that it is irritating to find such oversights in an otherwise wonderful program. This is only the second such oversight that I have come across, but irritating none the less (the first being it's inability to display remote images during design-time.....heck, even MSFP can do that!)
anyway, thanx for the reply Viktor, I appreciate your time. have a great day!
