Hi,

I just got XP Pro edition with IIS 5. I'm new to IIS because I'm used to PWS on Win98.

Here's the scoop:
I set up IIS to run my web site. But everytime I try to make a change to the database, I get the classic "Object must use an updateable query" error. I know what this means. It means that I must set up my permissions correctly on the database file so it can read/write. Right?

Well, I set up the read/write permissions in IIS, and then went in to my explorer to set it up manually. When I view the properties of the database folder, it says "Read-Only". But when I deselect "read-only", it just resets itself - therefore not allowing me to make changes to the database file.

Anyone know anything about this? It's frustrating me!!

Wierd, that sounds like one for MSDN...

I'm not too familiar with XP yet, but I seem top remember them saying that the pro version would be based on NT. if thats the case, instead of just checking the "read only" checkbox, try checking the security tab (if its there), and making sure that either "everyone" has permission, or IUSR_<machinename> does.

hope that helps,
