Working on a small job for real estate firm- they have like 8 agents and 100 listings, but want an asp driven site- I've read tutorials and know the basics, but to save time, what would be a good structure in Access for that???
Agents would have a photo and bio posted and Home detail pages would have some detail and 6 photos- User would need to be able to search by id#, area, city, price etc. Please help me out <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> Thanks

Bit of a broad question, so I'm going to take the opportunity to plug my own tutorial.

Well to clarify,
In access I'm thinking of structuring the database with one table of agents and their contact info and bios and then linking it to the listings table that would have all the listings-
I wondering if I should put all 100 listing in one table or if I should split them up for some reason...
I'm fairly new to all this and am just trying to get the best approach. I understand the basics of access and relational databases, but I jsut want to make sure before I embark on this great journey...er <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
Thanks

You'll be glad to hear that I have already done one of these. You can check one out at www.matthewsproperty.net and another at www.gartlan.com. The latter will be going live soon. These two have a backend system so that my clients can update their properties themselves (thanks to pure asp upload that is). All of it was done using ultradev (vbscript and asp) and extensions from here!

Take a look at the MLS - and match the structure of the Access table as close as possible. The agents will want a similar structure as the MLS. Just remember they are AGENTS. lol. Maybe it's worse in a big company - but you gotta hold their hands sometimes. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
Also think about some other added features - like a link to MapQuest (there is a really cool extension here for that), video of their properties (the sellers love this) etc...
Check out www.wimbish.com/buying.asp. Wimbish has thousdans of listings, but about 100 web videos (they are called web tours). The company just started with the web tour. I like it. Although it's a pain too work with.
The sole purpose of this site is too get listings. An Agent's site is the same but, they will generate leads. So keep that in mind.
