Anybody have any experience in compiling php 4 for Solaris 8? A resource or tutorial would be mighty helpful, since we continue to get an Apache error when we try here.

I wish there was a PHP/Solaris binary available somewhere ...

The error is on the start of apache after compiling. It does not occur before compiling.

Syntax error on line 238 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf: API module structure `php4_module' in file /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so ./httpd start: could not be started

We're running Apache 1.3.14

I have had this error a couple of times myself.
It happened because I had incorrectly edited the httpd-conf file whilst trying to add Addtype,Scriptalias and Action for PHP.
I had kept a back-up of the original file and when I replaced it apache started.
I think Apache is now up to 1.3.22 now as well, so it may be worthwhile upgrading.
