After upgrade to Studio 8, missing Fireworks

Question:

After I upgraded to Macromedia Studio 8 and have both Dreamweaver 8 and Fireworks 8, when trying to create a Flash Album, I get the following error:

"Must have Fireworks 3 to use, please download your free copy at ..."

What is going on I do have Fireworks 8 now?

Answer:

When you upgrade from MX04 to Studio 8 some of the DW settings carry over. DW still thinks that Fireworks MX is the default app for editing images. Since you upgraded that is no longer the case. Do the following:

Go To DW Preferences
Click File Types/Editors Option
For all image extensions .png,.gif,jpg map DW to your Fireworks 8 application using the "browse" button
After you've done that click "make primary"
Close DW
Restart

I have tried the remapping of the Fireworks 8 as primary. However I am still getting the 'need Fireworks 3' issue? Please advise. Bought 2 new extensions today - can't use either of them? Thanks

I, too, am having the same problem. I remapped. Got it to work once. Then when I deleted the flash file to rebuild it, I could not get it to work a second time. Went through the remapping again 3 times. Still getting that "Must have Fireworks 3..." error message. Help!

Yes, same problem here. The DW preferences were set for Fireworks 8 already, but still did the browse and relinked to the Fireworks 8 app. Still has the Fireworks 3 error message. Any updates on this issue?

Tried your preferences fix. Tried it several times. in one site it eventually worked. Even though I am doing the same steps, sometimes it works; sometiimes not. I noticed that when I restart and check my prefs that it shows the FW8.app but it is greyed out. When I repeat the process, sometimes it will eventually work. Any further updates? I love the extension, but this bug is miserable and time consuming.
